Membership overview

IPSON represents professionals working across cancer care in acute hospital settings, cancer support centres, primary care and hospice and palliative care. 

If you are a professional working in cancer care, you are eligible for membership in IPSON. IPSON is a representative group for professionals including nurses, doctors, social workers, psychologists, academics, researchers, psychotherapists, and other therapists. 

We warmly welcome students and early-career professionals to join! 

Membership benefits

IPSON acts as the hub for psycho-social issues in cancer care across clinical practice, community settings, professional training, policy and research in the field. 

IPSON plays a leading role in advocating for the improvement in cancer services in Ireland. 

IPSON will specifically focus on advancing the psycho-social recommendations of the new National Cancer Strategy 2016-2025. 

IPSON will work to insure psycho-social oncology research is encouraged, properly funded and supported. 

IPSON provides opportunity for professional networking through our annual conference and knowledge transfer webinars. 

IPSON provides a regular newsletter alerting members to updates in our field, research and networking opportunities.

Membership options

Membership is open to bona fide professionals who hold a recognised formal qualification in a health and social care profession, medicine or nursing, or other individuals with professional equivalence who are, or have been, actively engaged in clinical work, research and/or education of a psychosocial nature with people with cancer, cancer survivors, and their caregivers/loved ones.

Paid membership to commence late 2025
